A man is dead, one seriously injured – NRK

Around 21 o’clock Sunday police got the message that it was seen two men in the water at Isebakke in Halden.

– Three men were fishing when two of them slipped into the water, says operations manager Terje Marstad in Østfold police.

The third man had alerted a passerby who again alerted the police.

Poor visibility

Major exploration crews were quickly in place of Isebakke. Rescue divers searched the water and a Sea King rescue helicopter from the air.

– After the rescue divers from Fredrikstad came, the two were found relatively quickly. They were found right under the pier. There was very poor visibility in the water so divers had to grope to find them, says Marstad.

– Both were long in the water, probably close to three quarters, concludes Marstad.

Both of Poland

According to police, the two men were from Poland and they were visiting acquaintances in Halden.

One was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other is taken to hospital. His condition was yesterday regarded as critical, Monday morning police said that his condition is serious.
