More women than men take doctorate – iTromsø

It was completed 1448 doktorgradsdisputaser last year. Of them were 730 women and 718 men, writes Aftenposten.

– It has been on the cards for a while that the proportion of women would topple over, in that you have had an even gender balance among doctoral students some years now . The proportion of women among students increased much in the last half of the 2000s, says senior adviser Bo Sarpebakken at the Nordic Institute for Studies in Innovation, Research and Education (NIFU) said.

About 450 doctoral degrees were taken in medicine and health sciences, and here were women in the majority.
