Holstad released from custody – VG

Handling stolen goods accused Henning Holstad (FRP) won out with the appeal its appeal courts.

– It is gratifying that the Court of Appeal has taken Henning Holstad appeal to follow and frees him, says his lawyer Tom Glosimot VG.

– I hope that prosecutors reads decision thoroughly and did not find it necessary to appeal to the Supreme Court, says Glosimot.

Holstad was along with Imran Saber, also known as “Uncle Scrooge”, arrested by the police in a coordinated police action in mid-February. They are both charged with aggravated receiving stolen goods.



The police will appeal

While the Oslo District Court meant four weeks of detention was necessary because of the danger of destruction of evidence, the Court of Appeal considered it justifiable to release Holstad.

Oslo police have already decided to appeal the decision, but will not ask for suspensive effect, which means that the accused had to be seated in custody until the new treatment is finished.

– We note that the Court of Appeal agrees with the police that there are reasonable grounds to suspect, but that they do not agree with the assessment of loss of evidence danger. We do not agree with the Court of Appeal and will appeal to the Supreme Court in the course of tomorrow, says police lawyer Asmund Riegelsville.

Thus released Holstad pending reconsideration by the Supreme Court. After that VG knows release it earlier FRP polikeren out of jail during the evening.



Nokas connection

Ever since the late 1980s century Henning Holstad been among the Progress Party’s most prominent politicians in Oslo.

As late as 2008 he was both group and committee leader of FRP in the City Council. Holstad is currently deputy for FRP to the City Council in Oslo.

After the VG has been informed police believe Saber and Holstad allegedly laundered criminal money through business operations to the politician. Saber allegedly been paid legal wages, and been employed including resolving conflicts. A police theories is that the money originated from Nokas robbery.
