Man missing after avalanche in Troms – VG

His family reported him missing after finding snowmobile tracks into an avalanche in Nordreisa, police said.

All emergency services are notified and exploration action is implemented.

– The man belongs in the local area. It was the man’s family notified the police, and he had been missing for several hours, said operations Roy Tore Meyer at Troms Police VG late Tuesday night.

– They’ve run out to look for him, and then found a triggered landslides and a track that goes into the slide, said Meyer.

The landslide has gone by snowmobile trails in Røyelmyran in Reisadalen, type NTB.

Police was notified of the missing man clock 22.51 Tuesday night and arrived at the site about an hour later. According Nordlys is snowmobile patrols from Norwegian People’s Aid sent into the valley along with a police officer, while crews from the Red Cross is on alert.

Reisadalen located in Nordreisa municipality in Nord-Troms. Meteorological Institute earlier this evening issued a warning periodically stormy vulnerable places in Troms, but according to Meyer is not the actual area particularly safe from avalanches.
