Large avalanches on the west side of Kavringtinden – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): It is recorded signals from an avalanche transmitter in one of the breeds that have gone to the west of Kavringtinden near Lyngseidet Troms.

– A helicopter that have applied in the landslide-hit area registered a signal of one kind or another. We have therefore inserted dogs in manual searches, said rescue leader Olav Bjørgaas by JRCC in Northern Norway to Dagbladet.

He says that most people who are moving in the mountains in the area have on such avalanche transmitters.

– It has been observed people up in the area earlier today. We have no confirmation that this group has come down again. No person is reported missing, said Bjørgaas.

Both crew from Red Cross and Norwegian People’s Aid helps in search of the area, said rescue leader.

LATEST: According to NRK, says JRCC at 15.12 that nobody is taken of the landslide, and that the signals were not real. The rescue operation is terminated.

JRCC in Northern Norway enlightened following Dagbladet earlier today:

– It is observed a larger avalanches at the west side of Kavringtinden, which is southwest of the Lyngseidet Lyngen. This is a popular hike area and it is observed skiers on the way up in the area earlier in the day, said Olav Bjørgaas, rescue leader at JRCC in northern Norway earlier today.

Helicopter on the way, Force on hold

JRCC has sent helicopter from Tromso, with effort leads and dog carriages. It is also sent out volunteer brigades locally.

– The Armed Forces are notified and can send people and transport resources from Skjold and Bardufoss when needed. Now we are awaiting information from the helicopter on the way to the scene, said Bjørgaas earlier today.

He says that there is relatively good weather locally, but some snow showers elsewhere in the area.

– In general, large avalanche danger throughout the northern region, said rescue leader.
