Serious error

Eight-year-old Lithuanian Monika Sviglinskaja was found dead in his home Sund at Sotra Hordaland 14th November 2011. That same evening as eight-year-old was found dead believed police that there was talk of murder, and nine months later the case was dropped. Police concluded that eight year old probably had taken his own life.

In October last year, the former partner to Monika’s mother, a 32 year old man convicted litauer, arrested and charged with murder of eight-year-old. He refuses to have anything to do with it.

Monday this week came a report from the Public Prosecutor who has investigated the matter. There was revealed that serious errors in Hordaland Police led to early dismissal of the investigation.

Norwegian Bureau for the Investigation of Police Affairs is now working to decide whether it is made a punishable offense in the case of the police.

Humlegårdsvägen supports decision

Police Director Odd Reidar Humlegård says he supports Gudmundsen decision to step aside while the investigation is ongoing.

– There remains some work before we have the full picture of what happened in the investigation of Monika case. All facts must on the table in this case. But I expect that while the district is addressing the conditions that have emerged, and conducts planned measures, says Humlegårdsvägen.
