Search under water after missing 18-year-old – Aftenposten

The searches are conducted with underwater submarine and sonar, said operations manager in January Steimler Hordaland police.

– We will start as soon as it gets bright and hold on as long as it is still light. During the afternoon there will be made an evaluation on what to do next if it is not made any discoveries, says Steimler NTB Sunday morning.

The 18-year-old man disappeared after a traffic accident on Ekerhovd Sotra early Thursday. Both he and a 17 year old comrade stuck from the place before the police arrived, but buddy joined later.

– We begin underwater search near the place where the accident occurred. It is simultaneously extracted reports on current conditions, and these will be considered in terms of where it is appropriate to apply, says Steimler.

There will be no more searches on land at this time.

– Exploration Campaign is closed as rescue mission. It is now moved into a new phase where one searches for a presumed dead person says Steimler.

In total 180 people participated in the search on land Friday and Saturday, including 65 volunteers. Norwegian People’s Aid, Red Cross, Civil Defence and Norwegian Rescue Dogs helped all people.
