(Dagbladet): An unknown man took today into the police headquarters in Bergen and threatened to ignite itself.

– The clock 11:08 then we got the message that a man down on watch, crime guard on the first floor, threatened to set themselves on fire. This individual had a lighter and some type of liquid, said operations Preben Wallestad in Hordaland Police Dagbladet.

– He poured the liquid over himself and threatened to light, said Deputy Chief John Reidar Nilsen Hordaland Police Dagbladet.

The man was shirtless but it is according to Nilsen unclear whether he undressed inside police headquarters or outside.

Nilsen says they feared an explosion.

– There was a lot of gasoline and high concentration of gasoline vapors, he says.

Police called in retailers, healthcare and fire departments, and also had a task force outside police headquarters.

– Finally person alone down in that room, the surrounding area was isolated and we had control of all inputs and outputs, said Wallestad Dagbladet.

The time 11.22 man went out of the police station and was arrested.

– Nothing happened, he did not lit on something. We do not know who he is, yet. But he has said that he is from Palestine. Now, this case must be investigated, says Wallestad Dagbladet.

Deputy Chief Nilsen says it was a very dramatic situation.

– Luckily it a good outcome, says Nilsen.

He says the man is now taken care of and sent to a health check.

– There are also some employees who have been exposed to high concentrations of gas fumes, which will be checked, says Nilsen.
