Indicted for wife murder in Hemsedal: – uttered even a desire to come home to Norway – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): 44-year-old who is charged with killing his wife (34) in Hemsedal arrived today back to Norway after having been displaced within Iraq. When he arrived at Gardermoen he was arrested by police.

According to police, he admitted the murder of his wife. Husband lawyer, Sindre Løvgaard, says he is not familiar with how his client stands to charges of intentional murder.

– I have not talked with him after he came back to Norway. I do not know how he felt about the indictment says Løvgaard Dagbladet.



Wild home

He was appointed as defense counsel for 44-year-old, who is originally from northern Iraq, on Thursday after children accused had been heard by a judge the day before. Because of the interrogation of the children, he was formally charged with murder and was therefore also appointed defender.

– I spoke to him by phone on Friday. Then he uttered a desire to get back to Norway. He has enough uttered this to the police earlier, says Løvgaard, who did not want to comment on the reason why he wanted to go home.

Police have had several telephone conversations with the man while he has been on the run. After the 34-year-old woman was found murdered Monday 15 December, the husband been displaced and called for internationally, but police worked to get him back to the land of the same day. Police Attorney Per Thomas Omholt in Northern Buskerud Police District told Dagbladet that the police had telephone contact with accused during the week.

– He admitted killing over phone. He has cooperated with police and been benign, he said.

Why he has chosen to work with Norwegian police powers while he stayed in Iraq, did not want the police to comment. After that Dagbladet understand was not 44-year-old arrested in Iraq, but went voluntarily out of originating country.

The couple came from northern Iraq to Norway as political refugees in 2009. The woman may have been killed a week before she was found. Thursday December 11, she met not up on the law office where she worked.
